International Health Certificates

Going out of the country? As a federally accredited veterinarian practice, we can issue travel and acclimation certificates for your healthy pet so they can travel internationally with you.

Ensure a Safe Journey with Our Veterinary Services

When traveling internationally with your pet, it's essential to be aware of the specific import and export requirements for your destination country. We strongly recommend that you first contact the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) or the relevant government body in your destination country to obtain a list of their import and export regulations.

Once you have a list of requirements, please reach out to our clinic. Our team is here to guide you through the necessary paperwork, treatments, and testing, ensuring your pet is healthy and ready for the trip. We offer a full range of services to facilitate the travel preparation process, so you can travel knowing your pet is well prepared.

When should I start the process?

It’s crucial to start the travel preparation process well in advance, as some countries have specific timelines for vaccinations and testing. For example, rabies-free territories such as Australia or New Zealand can take six months. Please contact us as early as possible to ensure your pet meets all the requirements for travel.

Health certificates

Our licensed veterinarians can issue various export health certificates that meet the specific requirements of your destination country. These certificates confirm your pet is fit for travel and free of diseases that may pose a risk during transit. Depending on your destination, these health certificates may need further endorsement by the CFIA.

CFIA endorsement (if required): Depending on the destination country, your health certificate may need to be further endorsed by the CFIA. Once we have issued you the required documentation, you can make arrangements with the CFIA to complete the endorsement process.

Vaccinations, treatments & blood tests

Many countries require certain vaccinations, blood tests and/or anti-parasitic treatments before entry. We can facilitate any necessary tests, including rabies titers, and administer required vaccinations and anti-parasiticides to meet the health entry requirements for your pet’s destination.

Work with a Pet Travel Agency

For complex travel plans, we recommend working with a reputable pet travel agency. They specialize in coordinating all aspects of pet travel, including booking flights, ensuring compliance with destination regulations, and managing any logistical challenges.
