Dr. Darrell Dalton
Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Dalton quickly became a horse enthusiast as a teenager. After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980, he began his practice career as a Standardbred Racetrack veterinarian for the first six years, then married and moved to Red Deer to establish a pleasure horse practice. At that time, he and his wife raised and showed champion Great Danes across Canada. At the time of his wife’s untimely passing, their male was tied as the third leading Great Dane sire in North America. He remarried in 1998, and in 2007 moved to Edmonton to work for the ABMVA, where he held the Registrar position for the past nine years. Dr. Dalton left the ABVMA at the beginning of 2023, but was not ready to leave veterinary medicine, and was thrilled at the opportunity to work with the team members at Town Centre Veterinary Hospital. His hobbies away from practice include spending time with his wife, three kids, four dogs, and one cat. He is also an avid amateur wildlife photographer.
